The Flood Runner

Escape from the Rising Flood
The Flood Runner is the first version of the fast side-scrolling running series. Your character races forward while a dangerous flood follows from behind. The goal is to survive for as long as possible and cover a greater distance before the water catches you. The game uses the C key for jumping.
The runner keeps moving, so every jump must happen at the correct moment. Pressing C too early can make the character land before reaching the far side of a gap. Waiting too long may send the runner into an obstacle or leave no time to escape the rising water.
Look Ahead Before Every Jump
The safest way to play The Flood Runner is to watch the ground ahead rather than focusing only on the character. Platforms and gaps approach quickly. Spotting them early gives you more time to decide when to jump.
A short obstacle may need a late leap. A wider opening may require an earlier press. The game does not give the player a large collection of moves, so the result depends heavily on timing.
Chase a Better Distance
The Flood Runner records how far the character travels. A failed attempt can end after only a few seconds, but restarting allows you to correct the jump that caused the problem. Each run helps you understand how quickly the scenery moves and how much distance one jump covers.
The creator describes this version as an early test that comes before The Flood Runner 2. It offers a smaller and simpler form of the main running idea.
The Flood Runner works well as a quick reaction challenge. There are no complicated upgrades or long mission screens. The character runs, the flood follows, and the player controls the jumps. Surviving longer requires steady attention and fewer rushed presses. One well-timed jump can continue the run, while one late reaction can let the flood end it.
